And I said to my body softly, "I want to be your friend". It took a long breath and replied, "I have been waiting my whole life for this". - Nayyirah Waheed

I’m 50, married for 22 years and work in cardiology sales. My passion for BIM came from a loathing of my body for most of my life after suffering third degree burns as an eight year old. Four years ago I started the journey to embracing my body. This led me to join 24 other Australians to trek the Inca Trail in Peru with Turia Pitt whilst raising over 250k for charity. My newfound love of my body also drove me to compete in another fundraising event, the 100km Oxfam Trailwalker in 2016. I’m so very proud to be a BIMGA and to be one of the Kickstarter backers of Embrace the movie. Life is just so different from before I made peace with my body. I’m now in the present, taking risks and living life to the fullest. If I can, in some small way, make a difference to one person’s relationship with their body, I’d be happy.
