Exercise vigorously began for me when I was 17 years old. I had lost a bunch of weight and was convinced that I had to maintain this “ideal” image to be accepted and loved. For nearly a decade I obsessively exercised and created unhealthy eating habits which escalated into an on and off eating disorder as well as an addiction to exercise (always to the point of injury). At a time of desperation and severe anxiety, I began practicing Yoga! Yoga and I met at the perfect time. In addition to Yoga and Movement, I discovered Mindfulness Meditation for Stress Reduction which has helped me to live presently, as non-judgmentally as possible (even in times of discomfort or unpleasant circumstance). I have been practicing Yoga and Movement for thirteen years and teaching for nearly eight. Yoga, Movement and Mindfulness and have helped me to care and honor my truest self. A feeling that I thought would never exist. I feel that it is my purpose in life to guide others so whatever hurdle they are facing they would own the tools to find the strength they need to overcome life’s stresses and/or obstacles! Currently I am a proud Ambassador for the Body Image Movement and have been advocating for healthy body image for the last 7 years. Students and other teachers inspire me every day! My extreme passion for Healthy Body Image, Yoga/Movement and Mindfulness continues to grow and I am so grateful! Much Peace and Love, Kristy.
